Anthony “Tony” Charles Dominick, age 49, of Irmo, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in Newberry, South Carolina on November 20, 1971 to Charles William and Barbara Jean (Bartley) Dominick. Tony was raised in Newberry and graduated from Newberry High School. He also graduated from Midlands Technical College, Newberry College, and received his MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. At the time of his death, he was employed at Roche Diagnostics as a Lead Field Service Engineer.

Tony was an avid golfer and a member of the Mid Carolina Club in Prosperity, South Carolina. He belonged to the Hackers Golf Association at the Club, which organized and held events to benefit families in need in the community. Tony took annual golf trips with friends and enjoyed attending PGA events.

Tony was a lifelong South Carolina Gamecock fan. Game day on Saturday was spent in front of the TV or in the stands cheering his team to victory or loudly expressing his frustration in defeat.

Tony’s two greatest loves were his wife, Temple, of 22 years and his daughter, Harper “Doodlebug”, age 6. He was a caring and supportive friend to all. He excelled as a conversationalist and could passionately discuss any subject.

He loved his neighborhood family and enjoyed hosting parties for birthdays, holidays or just because, especially legendary pool parties. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Tony took to the karaoke mic whenever the opportunity arose, even if he didn't know the lyrics. He loved to travel and took many wonderful beach trips and cruises with his wife and daughter. Particular favorites were two Hawaiian trips.

Tony will be remembered by his family and friends for his big grin and laugh and his indomitable spirit.

Tony is survived by his wife, Temple Rae (Brooks) Dominick, and daughter, Harper Katherine Dominick, of Irmo; his parents Charles William and Barbara Jean Dominick, of Newberry; his brother Bart Dominick and his wife, Debbie, of Newberry; his sister, Angela Derrick, of Newberry; as well as a large extended family and vast network of friends.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 in Colony Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

Temple,
There aren’t any words that can truly express our sorrow at Tony’s passing. He was always so full of life and eager to help. He was a blessing to all of us, especially Britton, during his cancer journey. He and Britton were like brothers, and we will always cherish the time we spent with you’ll through the years, especially Christmas dinners.
It was an honor when you said at his visitation” that he thought of us as “honorary parents” as we thought of him as an honorary son. You know we are always here for you and Harper!

Harper, you have your daddy’s smile and enthusiasm. He loved you dearly so keep smiling for him.

I have only known this family for a short while my name is known to them as Mrs. Cheryl from Abner Montessori. They are the sweetest family!!!! And their beautiful daughter Harper is one beautiful girl inside and out... I remember her dad coming to pick her up several times and you could tell he loved his girl.. making sure she had all her things from the gym..which he would wait patiently for her to run a couple of times back and forth to gather her things..lol❤ my heart goes out to that sweet girl and her momma!!! Praying God will give you and your family comfort in the days ahead!!!

I met Tony in 2015 after moving into the neighborhood. My new neighbor, Britton, introduced us. Little did I know that what started as a few neighbors would turn into a brotherhood and neighborhood family. Tony was kind and caring. He had a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He treated my family as his own and would give you the shirt off his back. Whether we were at Tony’s swimming in the pool, tailgating in the driveway, or hanging out in Blake’s man cave, you could be sure Tony was there cracking jokes and belting out his signature laugh. I love you and miss you, brother.

Harper: Your daddy loves you more than anything in this world. He always said his job was to protect you and he took that seriously. Even though he may not be here on earth, you can be sure he will be looking down and watching over you.

Temple: There is no doubting Tony’s love for you. I’m so sorry he is no longer with us. I take some comfort in the belief that he and Britton are chatting it up in heaven. Your neighborhood family is here for you and Harper, and we will do our best to help out where needed, comfort when needed, and keep his memory alive.

Love,

Jay, Allison, Kennedy, Parker and Thatcher

Tony, I'm not sure where to start bc I'm still in a state of shock that you aren't with us anymore. You were a friend to many people, actually a good friend to many people, but you were a "best friend" to a handful of us guys in the neighborhood who loved hanging out with you any chance we could. You could always find us at your pool in the summer having a blast, you LOVED having everyone over every weekend to hang out and swim, such a big heart you had! Or you could find us in the mancave at Blake's house throughout the year if we weren't in your pool. The stories we would tell and the laughter that followed was epic and will truly be missed so much! Will always hold those memories close.

A piece of our "brotherhood" is now gone, and it hurts, it really hurts! I take comfort and peace knowing you are in Heaven with our Brother Britton Lee and ya'll can laugh and argue about Gamecock football and golf! I promise you one thing buddy, all of us in the neighborhood will look after and over Harper and continue to help Temple whenever she needs a hand! We are family! And even though you are gone Temple and Harper will always be apart of our hood Family! You will never be forgotten buddy! Love you, and miss you brother!

Tony was a great friend and Roche colleague. As soon as we met Tony, we knew his charisma was exactly what the team needed. He always brought a smile to the room and made both work and off-time enjoyable. Over the years we spent a lot of time together and became good friends. Our calls typically ended with him saying “You be careful Sis”. He was like a brother who I will deeply miss. I have many positive memories of him that I will always cherish. Tony I know you are golfing and bringing joy to Heaven, may you rest in peace!

Temple and Harper, he loved you beyond measure and was so very proud of you both! While there are no words to express the sadness of his passing, our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and friends during this difficult time.

Love,
Heather & Dave Roberts

We met Tony at a neighborhood gathering back in 2003 in our old hood. Who knew since then he and Temple would become some of our closest friends. Tony was such a great friend and was like a brother to Britton and myself. He will always be known as "Uncle Tony" to my daughters. Not only was he a fantastic karaoke partner, competitive canasta player, and excellent cook he also had huge heart, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.

Harper- I will do my best to help remind you of how wonderful your dad was. He will always be watching over and guiding you.

Temple- I'm sure Tony and Britton are enjoying the beautiful golf courses in the sky and continuing to argue about Gamecock football. I know none of this makes sense now, and I wish I knew the right words to say. I am so sorry you are going through this. Always remember you are not alone.

With greatest sympathy and love,

Wendy, Olivia, and Alyssa Lee

I had the opportunity to work with Tony for almost two years. Upon meeting over the phone, I new immediately we would become friends. Tony was one of the most down to earth people I have known and would do anything for anyone, including giving them the shirt off his back. We often talked about our families and I know Temple & Harper were the Love of his life. May the Peace of God be with you and your family Temple. It is with great sadness his passing came much too early.
Tony, I know you will be watching over your family! Take care my friend, I will see you on the other side. Maybe we can get a round of golf in!

I met Tony my freshman year at Newberry College. He was one of my best friends during my time there. We called him 'Local', which morphed into Tone-Loc. Regardless what you called him, he was as loyal and loving a friend as anyone could ask for. It broke my heart to hear he had passed. There are so few truly good guys in this world - now, there is one less. Please know that you have the thoughts and prayers of our family.
