IRMO – Banks Addison Dutton, Jr., 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Elmwood Cemetery Chapel. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel is assisting the family.
Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Banks Addison Dutton, Sr. and Annie Goff Dutton.
Banks was a loving husband, father and brother who enjoyed Gamecock sports, animals of all kinds and the great outdoors. He was a graduate of Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Banks proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Philips Components as the Manager of Purchasing. Banks was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Evelyn Dutton; daughters, Terri (Mike) Dutton Bamonte of Columbia and Melissa Anne Dutton of Isle of Palms; grandchildren, Richard (Janey) Bamonte of Houston, TX and Kelli (Anthony) Townsend of Lexington; brothers and sisters, Louise (Harry) Dunker of Columbia, Betty Harmon of Lexington, Jimmy (Jane) Dutton of Columbia, Roy (Mary) Dutton of Gaston and Jeanette (Tom) Pope of Irmo; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved Labrador Retriever, Barney.
