

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Fred; her son, Gregory; her sister in law, Dinah Barnhill; and her nephews, Bradley Barnhill and Nathan Barnhill. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Nelson Barnhill.
Barbara was known for her strong Christian faith. Most recently, she was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo, SC, where she enjoyed being part of the Serving Our Savior Sunday School Class. She was previously a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, SC, where she loved singing in the choir.
Barbara earned a B.S. degree in Education from Taylor University, an M.S. degree in School Counseling from St. Bonaventure University, and an associate degree in nursing (RN) from Central Ohio Technical College. Her professional life included working as a teacher, psychiatric nurse, and chiropractic assistant.
Her most important work was caring for and loving her family. She found joy in sharing her faith, reading, playing piano, traveling, spoiling her many beloved pets, and, in her later years, enthusiastically cheering for the Indiana Fever basketball team.
Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, and the love she shared with family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo, SC. A funeral service celebrating Barbara’s life will follow at 12:00 Noon.
