Barbara was born on February 3, 1947 and was the daughter of Ernest and Anne Brooks of Columbia S.C.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Herbert Griffin; son, Edwin (Kathryn) Griffin and grandchildren, Abby and Hayden of Irmo, S.C.; daughter, Robin (Jason) Vitali and granddaughter, Sophia of Richland, WA; sister-in-law, Tasha (Jack) Griffin of Lexington, S.C.; nieces, Dr. Christie (Dawn) Griffin, Angela Smith; nephew, Doug Gantt; and her many beloved cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, and sister.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina Nursing School, Barbara was a nurse at Baptist Hospital for 38 years. She was a long time member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church where she served on the Bridge of Hope Committee and as a children’s Sunday School Teacher. She also was an auxiliary member of the Irmo Gideon’s International. She loved traveling with her friends, playing cards, cooking anything sweet, and spending time with her grandkids. Barbara particularly cherished the fellowship of both her ladies and couples card groups.
Barbara faced multiple medical conditions, especially in recent years. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the medical staff who provided such compassionate and skilled care, including those at Prisma Health and the Heritage at Lowman Home. We are grateful also for her loving Riverland Hills Baptist Church family who affirmed her and shared kindness with us all.
