IRMO Belle Stanfield Blanton of Irmo, S.C., 98, formerly of Griffin, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Lewis Blanton in 2007. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Stanfield of Griffin, GA. Mrs. Blanton was also predeceased by four sisters, Lula Mae Stanfield, Ruth Wilder, Miriam Fanning, and Jean Fulford. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family dearly and delighted in family gatherings.
She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, S.C., a member of the Aline Leitner Fellowship Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, and the Birthday Bunch. Her bridge groups and friends were very special to her. While living in Griffin, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
For several years she served as a UMW circle leader as well as serving on numerous committees. She was a former member of the Griffin Wisteria Garden Club, the Griffin Historical Society, Griffin Country Club, a Kiwanian, and a life member of the Lake Junaluska Associates in N.C.
Mrs. Blanton is survived by her two daughters Joan Blanton of Amelia Island, FL, and Sue Blanton Kennedy (John) of Columbia, S.C; four grandchildren, Robert Parks Harris [Britta) of Amelia Island, FL, Will Blanton Harris (Suzie) of Arden, N.C., John Michael Kennedy (Alexandra) of Columbia, S.C. , Mary Frances Jashinsky (John) of Evans, GA; four great-granddaughters, Maili Blanton Harris, Kaia Marie Harris of Amelia Island, FL, Layla Grace Jashinsky and Mary Kate Jashinsky of Evans, GA; and three great-grandsons, Jackson Robert Jashinsky of Evans, GA , Benjamin Blanton Harris and Clayton Edward Harris of Arden, N.C. She is also survived by three nieces and their families and one nephew and his family.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, GA. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family.
