Betty M. Haltiwanger

A Memorial Service for Betty M. Haltiwanger, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the home. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family.

Mrs. Haltiwanger passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Daniel R. and Virginia McCabe McMillan. She was the wife of the late Joseph Johnson Haltiwanger, Jr. Mrs. Haltiwanger was a long time member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and volunteered in the Church office. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and attended Winthrop College. Mrs. Haltiwanger was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, and taught at ABC Kindergarten.

Surviving are her sons, Keith Haltiwanger, David Haltiwanger; daughter, Greta M. Jones and husband, James Jones, Jr.; sister, Jan Seitz and husband, Bill. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert G. McMillan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1416 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210 or a charity of one’s choice.
