IRMO, SC - Beverly Jean Goss Gatte, 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, surrounded by her family. Beverly was a loving mother of four and was adored by her eleven grandchildren.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Beverly was the daughter of the late Russell Blake Goss and Ann Caroline Schick Goss. She spent her professional career working as a manager at Sherwin Williams Company, and later retired. She spent her retirement in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later, in Irmo, South Carolina.

Beverly’s vivacious personality and her knack for telling it like it is always made those around her laugh. Beverly’s advice was coveted, and she was always on speed dial for when important decisions had to be made. Her signature whistle will be remembered fondly (and continue to raise the hair on the back of her grandchildren’s necks), and Christmas cookies will never quite be the same.

Beverly is survived by her children, Robert R. Gatte (Edite) of Elgin, SC, Carolyn Overhulse (Glenn, deceased) of Bowling Green, OH, Kenneth M. Gatte (fiancé, Elizabeth Gil) of Kent, OH, and Michael T. Gatte (Patricia) of Irmo, SC; grandchildren Paul, Christina, Catherine, Justin, Allina, Daniel, Samantha, Lilia, Evan, Michael, and Cailyn; twin sister, Barbara Hart (James, deceased) of Irmo, SC; and sister-in-law, Marge Goss of Chardon, OH.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Robert Wade Gatte, and her brother, James R. Goss.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that memorials be made to the American Lung Association or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family. Memories may be shared at

This lady was the best mother in law in the world. She would do anything for her kids and grandchildren and extended family. She was loved by so many people. I will miss her dearly.
