Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in Ft. Jackson National Cemtery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family.
Carl, affectionately known as “Punky,” passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Carl C. Conant and Ellen Harvin Conant. Carl proudly served as 1St Lt. in the 101st Airborne, US Army during Vietnam and was promoted to Captain in the US Army Reserves. He was Regional Manager with Garrett Book Company.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Alford Conant; son, Carl “Cal” Conant III; daughter, Elyse Wells (Jeff); grandchildren, Blane, Cora, and Ellie Conant, Kyra and Kendra Gardner. He is also survived by a brother, Scott Conant (Terry); nephew Thomas and niece Ellen Conant. He was preceded in death by an infant son and grandson, Kyler Gardner.
