Memorial Service for Carl Michael Porth, 69, will be conducted at 3 o’clock on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Mike “Mykie” passed away surrounded by family on Monday, April 9, 2018. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Maeola Harmon Porth and the late Carl Ray Porth of St. Matthews, S.C. Mike proudly served in the Army National Guard. He attended Coastal Carolina and was a member of the golf team where he received numerous state and national awards. His passion and skill for golf continued after college earning him additional awards. Mike played first baseman and pitcher for the American Legion. Mike was cheerful, outgoing, and truly never met a stranger. He had a strong passion for the Clemson Tigers football. And spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Florence Martin Porth; daughter, Khristy Porth Pedersen (Justin); grandson, Holden Pedersen. He is also survived by two brothers, Lynn Ray Porth (Debbie) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Donnie Porth of St. Matthews. A niece, Mallory Porth. My condolences to the Porth family. I remember Mykie playing baseball as a freshman when Lynn Ray and I were seniors at SMHS. I am glad I got to see him again and speak with him at coach Ott's service. My prayers are with the family.
