

Born on May 31, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina, Cary was a man of deep faith and strong family values. He graduated from A.C. Flora High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. His education laid the foundation for a successful career in real estate. In 1986, he founded McDaniel & McDaniel Realty, building a respected business that reflected his dedication to integrity and service.
Beyond his professional achievements, Cary was a devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Irmo, South Carolina. His faith guided him throughout his life and inspired his philanthropic work with the Southern Boys Disaster Relief Team. He was passionate about helping others and giving back to those in need.
Cary’s love for life extended into many hobbies that brought him joy. An avid golfer, he spent countless hours on the course perfecting his game and enjoying time with friends and family. He was also a dedicated coin collector and had an appreciation for classic cars that fueled his enthusiasm as a car enthusiast. His adventurous spirit led him to travel frequently, exploring new places and creating cherished memories along the way.
Above all else, Cary treasured time spent with loved ones. He is survived by his siblings: Phyllis (Brad) Nutting, David (Jeanie) McDaniel, Pam (Rhett) Briggs, and Todd McDaniel; his children: Wayne (Stacy) McDaniel and Michelle Phillips; his grandchildren: Susanna McDaniel, Danielle (Justin) Culbertson, Calvin McDaniel, and Kyle (Libby) Phillips; and his great-granddaughters: Haley Simmons “Culbertson” and IvyLeigh Oswald. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Betty McDaniel; and his stepmother, Patricia McDaniel.
Cary’s legacy of faith, generosity, and love will live on through those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who were blessed to share in his life.
A visitation for Cary will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home - Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow St, Irmo, South Carolina 29063. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM, 7600 Woodrow St, Irmo, South Carolina 29063. A burial will follow the service at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
