Clyde Thomas Cobb

Born on May 16, 1948, Tommy lived a life marked by service, hard work and a genuine appreciation for the people and pastimes he loved.

Tommy proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army’s 40th Infantry Platoon Scout Dog. His military service remained an important part of his life and reflected the courage, loyalty and dedication he carried throughout the years.

He graduated from Parker High School in 1966 and was always proud of his “PHD”—his Parker High Diploma. Tommy later attended the University of South Carolina, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1975. He remained a proud alumnus and devoted Gamecocks fan throughout his life.

Tommy built his professional career in payroll and accounting, working for SCE&G and the Lowman Home. He was known for his dependability, strong work ethic and careful attention to detail.

Outside of work, Tommy knew how to enjoy life. He loved beach music and shagging, spending time fishing and relaxing on Lake Murray, and playing golf. Whether he was on the water, on the golf course or listening to a favorite song, Tommy found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in time spent with those closest to him.

He was predeceased by his father, Clyde Lee Cobb, and his mother, Viola Aiken Cobb.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Chad Thomas Cobb and his wife, Patricia Lynn Cobb, and their daughter Abigail Riley Cobb; his son, Wesley Kevin Cobb; his daughter, Shelby Nicole Powers and her husband, Richard Michael Powers Jr.; his sister, Sandra Cobb Whitaker and her husband, Anthony Grice Whitaker Sr; and many extended family members and friends.

A funeral service honoring Tommy’s life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. The service time will be announced.

Tommy will be remembered as a proud veteran, loyal Gamecock, loving father and grandfather, and a man who found happiness in good music, time on Lake Murray and a life well lived.
