COLUMBIA - David Morrell Postell, 76, of Columbia. South Carolina, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. He was born on June 22, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, to James Melvin Postell Jr. and the late Louise Chapman Postell.
David served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war. Following his military service, he pursued a career that included working for Richtex Brick in Blacksburg and Columbia, South Carolina, as well as driving for Crete and Shaffer Trucking firms. He eventually retired to care for his parents.
David was a dedicated member of White Rock Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. He enjoyed his lake cabin home in Prosperity, South Carolina and spent his free time working in his garden, generously sharing the produce with friends and neighbors. He was also a proud supporter of the Gamecocks.
He is survived by his father, James Melvin Postell Jr. (100 years old); brothers, James Melvin Postell III (Sheila), Tommy Donald Postell; nephew, Jeff Postell (Cathy); niece, Michele Postell Neely; great-nieces, Micheala Hauge (Micah), Marissa Sullivan (Caleb), Maura Brewer (Noah), Erika Neely; great-nephew, Mark Witt (Hannah); as well as several cousins.
A visitation will be held from 12 noon- 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024 at White Rock Baptist Church, with services to follow and burial at Dutch Fork Baptist Church cemetery.
