COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Dean Laney Matney, 91, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, with burial in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:00 p.m. with light refreshments prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Matney died Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Born in Pageland, SC, she was a daughter of the late Bruce Laney and Etta Mae McManus Laney.
Surviving are her sons, Meshell “Mickey” N. Matney, Jr. (Debbie) and Richard “Rickey” D. Matney, Sr. (Rebecca); five grandchildren, Meshell David Matney (Sharon), Robert Adam Matney (Rachel), Elizabeth Matney McMicken (Jeffrey), Richard “RJ” Dean Matney, Jr., and Laura Lee Matney; four great-grandchildren, Jack, Jenna, Matthew, and Owen; and sister, Sylvia L. Rock.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Meshell Norman Matney, Sr.; sisters, Virginia L. Guice, Georgia Lueth, and Margie L. Moore; and brothers, Amon L. Laney, Billy A. Laney, and John B. Laney.
