This is truly a voice from Don's past. He was my boss at FDIC for several years in the 1970's.
Don possessed a great sense of humor, shared his knowledge freely, and was always genuinely concerned for the welfare of his staff. He leaves behind many friends and family members who will always remember him with love and respect.

Lubitz family, I am sorry for your loss. Mr. Lubitz gave me my very first full time job with FDIC in 1978. He was a very fine man. He was always very kind and fair. He was a great boss. The world needs more people like Donald J Lubitz. My prayers are with you.

My dad, Don's brother Jack, fixed up our car with plywood on the back seat so he could drive through the night and we could sleep. He drove from Easton Minnesota to St Louis during the night...I remember leaving Minnesota and entering Iowa, as Iowa had those roads with ridges on .. We played with our cousins and climbed trees in their yard...The airport was close to their house... Enjoyed hearing and seeing all the planes coming in..
My last memory was traveling on a road trip and stopping in to see him and Shirley and some of my grown cousins...
Don shared some kindness dad showed to him when he would come back to Minnesota.
I've been thinking of Don and Shirley for the last number of weeks and , in this pandemic, have been meaning to give them a call to see how they are handling things.... My thoughts have truly been with them and the family and wished I would have gotten that call made.... Love to my So Carolina family.... My dad, Don's brother died at age 59... I still miss him...Hope they can catch up and continue their conversation...
