Dorothy May Norris

Funeral Service for Dorothy May Norris will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the chapel of Louisville Memorial Gardens, West. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, assisted the family with local arrangements.

Mrs. Norris passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Born in Louisville, KY, she was a daughter of the late Robert Elmer Shofner and Artie May Campbell Shofner. She was the wife of Lt. Col. James H. Norris, Jr. (USA, Ret.) Dorothy was a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Nursing and retired from Baptist Medical Center.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, James; children, J. Diane Henry, John R. Von Kannel, Jay S. Von Kannel (Lori), James H. Norris, III, Jeanne Beese; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and one great-grandson “on the way!” She was preceded in death by her son, Joel E. Von Kannel; son, Ernest Von Kannel III; daughter, Janice Green; brother, Robert B. Shofner; sisters, Wanda L. Nunn and Norma Jean Edmonson.
