Gene was born on June 16, 1952 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the son of the late John C. Gallagher and Dorothy Lawton. He had fond memories of growing up with his siblings, cousins, and friends. He shared love-filled memories of their many times together at Keech Pond, enjoying time swimming and playing cards.
Gene graduated from Cranston East High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. After he worked many years as a plumber, he finished his career as a Trade Specialist for the USC School of Medicine.
Gene worked hard at all that he did and was always a well-respected member of his community. However, his greatest accomplishment which he was most proud of, was raising his beloved children- Stefanie (Gallagher) Alpaio and Andrew Gallagher, stepchildren, Christine (Taibi) Oates and John Taibi. Gene loved his Savior, Jesus with all his heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Gallagher; children, Stefanie, Andrew, Christine, and John; grandchildren, David, Sophia, Joseph and Dante Alpaio, Silas, Samuel, and Elizabeth Oates; siblings, John Gallagher, Linda Stamp, Pat Ginolfi, and Kevin Gallagher, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
