

Frances was born in Staunton, VA. She was a daughter of the late Wayt Bell Timberlake and Susan Lewis Marshall. She was predeceased by her sister Susan Thomas, of Staunton, VA. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Meares, a son, Strib Meares (Jean) of Columbia, MD, a daughter, Beverly Hicks (Paul) of Wytheville, VA, and a son, Tim Meares of Rocky Mount, NC, a grandchild, Kaitlin Meares, and a brother, Wayt Timberlake (Mary), and her nieces and nephews.
Frances met her husband of 66 years at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Both are graduates of UNC and enjoyed cheering the Tar Heels on together. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Clyde and Frances enjoyed sharing time together with Sherlock and Hermie, as well as, boating, camping and Traveler’s Lake outings. Family reunions in Ponte Vedra and later in the Isle of Palms were annual highlights. She was a devout Catholic and prayer warrior. She enjoyed reading, written correspondence, and sharing the Catholic Faith.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and support. Also the family is grateful for all family, friends, church members, neighbors, and caregivers who have supported us during this time.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, SC. The Rosary will be prayed in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church followed by a burial at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
