COLUMBIA - Fredree Hensley Keefe, 90, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Louise Hensley of Columbia, and was predeceased by her husband, Captain John L. Keefe and her son, David Keefe. Surviving are her son, John S. Keefe (Susan) of Columbia; daughter, Nancy Martin of Columbia; and 4 siblings, Judy Cobb of Columbia, Johnny Hensley of Gaffney, Peggy Burr of West Columbia and Dick Hensley of Winnsboro. Very special to Fredree were her 9 grandchildren, as well as 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Fredree was known for her sweet, soft spoken demeanor and her Southern hospitality. She was devoted to her family and loved holidays. She would spend days cooking and preparing to make things just right for all her children and grandchildren. She retired with her late husband to the Lowfalls Community in Calhoun County, where family and friends made many good memories fishing, hunting and enjoying the fun times had by all. She loved old movies, politics, and was an avid reader.
Mrs. Keefe was a dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her and she will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice and Harbor Chase Assisted Living for all their loving care and support.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.
