OBITUARY
Gloria Cogburn Zimmerman
November 8, 1942 – January 1, 2021
COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Gloria C. Zimmerman, 78, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021 in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Florence, SC.
Mrs. Zimmerman died Friday, January 1, 2021. Born in Florence, SC, she was a daughter of Elmer and Frances Cogburn. She graduated from McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC. In 1988, she received her degree in Nursing at Midlands Technical College. Gloria worked as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse at Baptist Hospital in Columbia for many years and later retired as an Occupational Health nurse at Westinghouse Nuclear in Hopkins, SC. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, SC.
Surviving are her daughter, Tara Zimmerman Munro; son, Chip Zimmerman (Clara); sister, Laney Blanton Bloodworth; grandchildren, Chandler Pollard, Logan Pollard, Calder Zimmerman, and Olivia Zimmerman; and her loving four-legged companion, her dog Maggie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ralph D. Zimmerman.
She was blessed with wonderful friends, neighbors, and the care of MSA Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Gloria Zimmerman Fund.

I knew Gloria from her days as a nurse at Westinghouse. She was such a nice lady. I'm saddened by the news of her passing.
May God provide her family and friends the strength and comfort needed in this difficult time.
