Harriett Sue McDowell

Harriett McDowell, 73, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. She was the loving wife of Ray Morris McDowell. They shared 24 years of marriage together.

Born in Swainsboro, Georgia on November 30th 1944, she was the daughter of the late Harry Bishop and Sue Sample Bishop. She graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1962. Harriett was an accomplished Interior Designer who served Chapin, Irmo, and surrounding areas for more than 40 years.

She was one of the first original members of Dutch Fork Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching all her favorite television shows with her husband by her side. She will be remembered for her spunk, big personality, and her big heart that constantly loved to help others.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Morris McDowell, 75; her children, Anne Faircloth Atkinso, Sean Murphy, Debbie Cathcart, Kevin McDowell, and Katherine McDowell; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Bishop; sister, Ramona Snedeker; and her four-legged fur baby, Trigger. Harriett was predeceased by her son, William Mervin Faircloth III, and granddaughter, Kristen Anne Faircloth.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, SC. Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Dutch Fork Baptist Church, with viewing to be held at 2:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Harriett Sue Bishop Faircloth Murphy McDowell will be greatly missed by her many friends, her loving family and her devoted Husband.
