

CHAPIN - A funeral service for Homer Grady Chapman III, 68, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
Mr. Chapman died Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Bernice Metts Chapman Sims and the late Homer Grady Chapman, Jr. A graduate of Columbia High School, he attended Camden Military Academy and Midlands Technical College. Grady was self-employed specializing in landscaping and fence work. He loved fishing and enjoyed boating on Lake Murray.
Surviving are his mother, Bernice Metts Chapman Sims; son, Jason Sheppard (Kathleen) and grandson, Eric Sheppard, all of Belton, SC; sister, Anne Chapman Burriss (who passed away on March 17, 2022); two stepbrothers, George Sims and David Sims; two stepsisters, Susan Roden and Beth Selander; his companion of many years, Rene Ringer; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and beloved dog, Ruby.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his stepfather, J. Lee Sims, and granddaughter, Madeline Sheppard.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
