COLUMBIA Hugh Tyler passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021. He was the son of Dawson & Bobbie Tyler. He was a lifelong resident of Columbia, S.C. He was the owner and operator of The Butcher Shop for over 40 years. Hugh had served as the President of the S.C. Association of Meat Processors and on the board of directors for the North Carolina Association, as well as the Southeastern Association. He was honored to have been elected to serve as President of the American Association of Meat Processors in 2003 and 2004. Hugh was a member of Lexington Baptist Church.
Hugh was predeceased by his parents & two brothers, Berley Tyler and Ricky Tyler. He is survived by brothers, Charles Tyler (Mildred), Bryan Tyler, & Wayne Kessler (Marion).
Hugh is also survived by his daughter, Lauren Wright (Brent) and their children, Graham and Clare and his son, Christian Tyler (Kristin) and their children, Harlan and June and his wife of 48 years, Carol Tyler.
A private memorial service will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
