James A Hipp

IRMO - A funeral service for James Allen “Jimmy” Hipp, 92, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Hipp died Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Born in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late James Howard Hipp, Jr. and Carrie Capps Hipp. He worked as a master plumber for Walker Plumbing and Heating for many years. Jimmy was a former member of Union United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Janet A. Hipp (Marion Ayers) of Columbia, SC; granddaughters, Michelle Miller-Painter (Billy Smith) of Columbia, SC and Heather Miller-Morgan of Irmo, SC; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Brittany (Will), Jacob, and Connor; one great-great-grandson, Easton; and sisters, Dorothy H. Hunter of Newberry, SC and Evelyn H. Evans (Claude) of Chapin, SC.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nadine Derrick Hipp, and brothers, Howard K. Hipp, and Gordon R. Hipp.

The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and staff of C.M. Tucker Nursing Center and the VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
