OBITUARY

Jerry Melvin Granshaw

October 26, 1939November 17, 2016

Jerry Melvin Granshaw, of Columbia, SC, formerly of Seekonk, MA, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Heritage at Lowman. Mr. Granshaw was born in Los Angeles, CA. He was a pipe fitter for most of his working life, and he instilled in his children the importance of education and the value of a strong work ethic. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 2007, he was diagnosed with dementia, but he was able to continue to enjoy history, nature, gardening, reading, traveling, and cooking until the later stages of his illness. He was a friend of Bill W. for 36 years. He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Nancy; his daughter Christina Dupre and her wife Kandy Fly; his son Steven Granshaw and his wife Maria; his daughter Melanie Rogers and her husband Stephen; his stepson Robert Crawford; his stepson Allan Crawford and his wife Cheryl; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 10 a.m., at St. Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church, 1110 Kinley Road, Irmo, SC 29063.
