

Joe Stewart, age 87, of Irmo, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 13, 1937, in Catawba, North Carolina, Joe's life was one of unwavering devotion to his family.
Joe was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Cox Stewart, with whom he built a life full of love and cherished memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hettie Stewart, and was their only child. Though he may have been an only child, he created a beautiful and enduring legacy through his family. He is survived by his four sons, Todd, Kevin, Craig, and Eric, his daughter Andrea, and his daughters-in-law, Amy and Katie. Joe took great pride in his grandchildren—Miranda, Ryan, Leo, and Logan—who brought him immense joy and laughter.
A dedicated scholar, Joe graduated from Bandy High School before attending Wake Forest University, where he earned a degree in Mathematics and Physics. His intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic led him to a successful career with Allied Chemical and Lummus Industries, where he excelled as a natural salesman. He was respected for his keen mind, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to excellence.
Joe found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved gardening, spending time on his tractors, and working with trucks and cars. His fascination with all things mechanical was evident in every project he took on, whether it was fixing an engine or tending to his garden. His hands were always busy, and his heart was always full.
A funeral service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Saturday, March 29, at Dunbar Funeral Home in Irmo, SC. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 Noon. A reception will take place immediately after the service, where friends and family can gather to share stories and honor the remarkable life of Joe Stewart.
Though he has departed from this world, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Joe. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
