

Julian "Michael" Werts, 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late Virgil Werts and Annie Mae Randolph Rollins. A 1969 graduate of Beaufort High School, he worked as a manager for Vocational Rehabilitation. He married the love of his life, Sandy, on May 2, 1980. They loved traveling together and never met a stranger. They became friends with everyone they met. Michael, A.K.A. "PopPop," was a family man who enjoyed bowling, watching baseball, working outside, watching Old Westerns, and his dog, Fenway. He loved his neighbors and his elaborate Christmas decorations brought joy to his family and friends every year. His language of love was joking and making people laugh. He would do anything for anyone. He will be missed by so many.
Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Sandy B. Werts; step-father, Frank Rollins (Pam); son, John C. Rogers (Ann-Marie); daughters, Donya M. Cohen (Brad) and Misty L. Frick (Mike); grandchildren, Kevin Bogaert (Colleen), Rhiannon Bogaert, Sean C. Rogers (Frida), Alex Rogers (Emily), Jordan Mossorofo (Robert), Benny C. Trefsgar (Sarah), Abigail Cohen, and JT Frick; great-granddaughter, Dahlia Rogers; sisters, Diane Brooks (Steve), Darlene Selmier (Sam), and Arlene Robbins; brother, Ray Werts (Ellen); sister-in-law, Kathy Brichacek (Joey); brother-in-law, Johnny Busby (Jo); numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; and special friend, Bill Mains.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Don Werts and Johnny Werts.
A celebration of life for Michael will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
