Kristin G. Koosa

Requiem Memorial Mass for Kristin G. Koosa, 68, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.

Kris passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017. Born in Knoxville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Richard O. and Betty Alexander Gustafson. She was a member of Our Lady of Lake Catholic Church. Kris received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Masters of Education as well as her Masters of Guidance and Counseling from the University of South Carolina. She retired after 20+ years of teaching at Irmo High School and Irmo Middle School. Throughout her teaching career and following her retirement from the school district, she worked as Manager and “CEO” of Weed Hill/Koosa Golf. Kris was an avid golfer who shared the love of the game with her husband, Jimmy Koosa. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports to include, baseball, soccer, football and more and loved all animals especially her many dogs and cats.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 49 years, James L. “Jimmy” Koosa, are children, Barbara Koosa Ryan, Mitchell K. Koosa (Mickey); grandchildren, Hugh Ryan, Kristin Ryan, Brady Koosa; brother, Richard “Chip” Gustafson; many nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her devoted four-legged friend, Annabelle. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Gustafson.
