Laurence Frederick Tomlin Sr.

Laurence Frederick Tomlin, Sr., 82, of Irmo, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020. Born in Columbus, GA, he was the son of the late Ben O’Neal Tomlin and Eula Odessa Griffin Tomlin. A private celebration of life will be held. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, assisted the family.

Fred served in the US Army National Guard. He was retired from Schenley’s Distillery where he was in sales for many years. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed working crossword puzzles however, his greatest moments were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Marietta Jones Tomlin; sons, Fred Tomlin, Jr. (Carol), Lee Tomlin; grandchildren, Richard Tomlin, Lauren Tomlin Goodman (Kurt), Jennifer Tomlin, Casey Tomlin (Tracy), and Trey Tomlin (Hannah). He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Henry Tomlin and McKinley Tomlin. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Retha Bryan.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbot Drive, Suite #301, Cayce, SC 29033 or the American Cancer Society, 200 Center Point #100, Columbia, SC 20210.

Marietta, Fred and Lee, I am so sorry for your loss. I believe Mom still has a cookbook Marietta and Fred gave her, Jean Elmore, during a visit to the cabin on Lake Harding. I'm sorry to let you all know Mom passed away September 24, 2019. She always thought the world of Fred and you, Marietta. With much love,
