Mary Elizabeth Hopkins

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Mary Elizabeth Buehrle Hopkins, 91, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo 29063, with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Cookie died Saturday, July 26, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband, E. E. “Hoppy” Hopkins - to whom she was married for 63 years – and by her sister, Helen Noreen Laubert. Born in Homer City, Penn., Cookie was a daughter of the late Alvin George Buehrle and Elizabeth Kramish Buehrle and lived many years in Akron, OH, and Ft. Myers, FL. Cookie and Hoppy were lifelong and avid golfers and bridge players. Surviving are sons, Gary Hopkins of Lexington, Ky., Michael Hopkins (Colleen) of Waco, Texas; daughters, H. Lynn Hopkins of Little Rock, Ark., Pamela Blackwell (Ralph) of Columbia, Patricia Cook (John) of Aiken; daughter-in-law, Felicia Hopkins of Stow, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
