COLUMBIA - Meredith “Mary” Kimbro passed away on June 19, 2015, after a long and courageous struggle against cancer. She is survived by her loving mother, Margaret E. Kimbro and beloved life partner, Thomas M. Gernhofer; cousins, Bennett Shealy, Joanne Vanderbosch, Catherine Richardson, Evelyn Anderson and Paul Eleazer, MD. Meredith graduated from the University of South Carolina, and worked in the Office of the Secretary of the Interior where she received the Meritorious Service Award, the Department’s second highest honor. Services will be held on Friday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063 with interment at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 1918 Shady Grove Road, Irmo, South Carolina 29063. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation, 1701 N. George Mason Drive, Arlington, VA 22205.
