Mary was born on August 30, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Wilbert Badger and Margaret Louise Sires Badger. She later made her home in Irmo, South Carolina, where she built a life centered around her family, her work, and the people she cared for.
For more than 25 years, Mary served at Dutch Fork High School, spending most of those years as the school registrar. During her many years there, she became a familiar and valued part of the school community, helping generations of students and families.
Above all, Mary loved her family, and she especially cherished being a grandmother. She is survived by her three children, Joseph (Lisa) Delmege, Melissa (Louis) Hyde, and Stephanie (Anthony) Voci; and five grandchildren, Piper (17), Eden (13), Asher (10), Luca (6), and Elio (2).
Mary enjoyed a good time and especially loved gathering with family and friends for game nights. She had a love for plants and gardening, enjoyed her pets, and treasured the simple pleasure of sitting on her porch with a cup of coffee. Her Christian faith was an important part of her life. She will be remembered for the love she had for her children and grandchildren and for the many lives she touched through her family, friendships, and years at Dutch Fork High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Margaret Louise Badger, and her sisters, Cynthia Jones, Judy Badger, and Nancy Allen.
Mary's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Fairforest Grove Senior Living for the friendship, companionship, and care that enriched her life over the last several years. The family is also deeply grateful to the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at Lexington Medical Center, who worked tirelessly to provide Mary with compassionate and exceptional care during her final days.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Irmo, South Carolina, with the celebration of life service beginning at 5:00 p.m.
A graveside service and burial will be held at a later date in Morristown, Tennessee.
