Michele Lynn Spero Storey

LEXINGTON - A memorial service for Dr. Michele Lynn Spero Storey, 57, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends following the service at the family home in Lexington. Dr. Spero Storey died Monday, July 25, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Alexander Cecil “Allen” and Rhoda Fein Spero. She received her undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y. and graduated from medical school at the State University of N.Y. She did her internship at Staten Island General Hospital in Staten Island, N.Y. In 1986, she joined Blue Cross/Blue Shield to help establish their HMO Department. She later went into private practice at Lexington Internal Medicine where she worked for 25 years. Upon leaving private practice, she worked at S.C. Disability Determination Services for five years. Her hobbies included reading, boating and traveling. Surviving are her husband, Steven G. Storey; son, Blake R. Storey (Lauren) of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Alexis K. Storey of Lexington; brother, Laurence Spero (Donna) of Durham, N.C.; sister, Ellen Wheatman (Steven) of Lower Gwynedd, Pa.; two nieces, Emily and Kaia Spero; three nephews, Michael and Brian Wheatman and Austin Spero. The family wishes to thank all the physicians, nurses and staff at S.C. Oncology Associates, Palmetto Health Baptist and Palmetto Health Richland for their treatment and care during her illness.
