Olan M. Porter

Olan M. Porter, 93, passed away on September 6, 2022. He was born in Pickens County, SC to the late Davis Barton and Rosa Duncan Porter. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Rosales Palmer, three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy “Dot” of 73 years, a son Alan (Joan) Porter, grandchildren Wendy (Derrick) Lanier, David (Katie) Rosales, Jason (Staci) Porter, Alison (Josh) Butcher and 6 great-grandchildren.

After leaving the family farm he worked in the construction industry until he Joined Henry Mobile Home Sales and Service. Later he became part owner of Henry and Porter Mobile Home Supplies. He was a member of Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church and Dutch Fork Masonic Lodge.

Visitation will be at Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022, with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Virginia Wingard Memorial UMC, 1500 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
