

COLUMBIA - Patricia Beiga Head, 63, will always be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother. After surviving a stroke and battling multiple health issues over the last five years, Pat found heavenly rest on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Born November 13, 1952, to the late Major Albert J. Beiga, USAF (Ret.) and Alice Finck Beiga, she was a graduate of The University of South Carolina with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Pat leaves behind a devoted husband, James L. Head Jr., and loving children, Alexandra Koch Hendrick (Mark) and Ryan Andrew Koch, as well as stepchildren, James L. Head III (Margaret), Kate Head Windemuller (Joseph), and John William Head. She is also survived by siblings, Stephen Beiga (Michelle), John Beiga, and Elizabeth Beiga. She was a passionate advocate for the disadvantaged and disabled throughout her life. While living in Columbia, Pat worked to expand Medicaid access in South Carolina while serving as Special Projects Coordinator at Family Connection of South Carolina and later at Maximus, Inc. Those who knew Pat will always remember her striking beauty, vivacious personality, witty sense of humor, and love of shoes. Family always came first and she always looked after those close to her. A funeral service will be held at Boyce Chapel of First Baptist Church in Columbia, SC on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation immediately following in Ellis Hall at First Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at Woodbridge Memorial Park later in the day. Dunbar Funeral Home (Irmo) is assisting the family.
