Patricia Ann Nagle of Irmo, SC, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home, with family by her side, on Sunday, July 26, 2026. She was born on January 20, 1947, in Wooster, Ohio, to Clyde Martin and Mary Virginia Miller. Her radiant smile and tender heart brought joy to others during her lifetime.
After receiving her BA degree cum laude in Speech Therapy from Miami University of Ohio, she took a summer job at Apple Creek State hospital, where she met a psychologist named Richard Nagle who ultimately became her husband of 56 years. She became a speech pathologist in a school district in rural Ohio before earning a master’s degree from the University of Akron.
Pat moved to New York and worked at the prestigious Blythedale Children’s Hospital before ultimately laying down roots in South Carolina in 1975. She was employed as a clinic supervisor at the University of South Carolina and later Columbia College. She returned to the public schools and was employed by Lexington-Richland School District No. 5 until her retirement. The South Carolina Speech-Language-Hearing Association granted her an award for her contributions to her field. Her unwavering passion and dedication to her work with children earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and students alike.
She married Richard Nagle in 1970, and the two spent 56 years together. Pat was a loving spouse and mother to their two children, Brian and Gregory. She created a warm family atmosphere that allowed her children to flourish, and many memories are held close to their hearts. We were very blessed to have her in our lives.
Pat enjoyed trips to the beach, reading, rooting for the Gamecocks, and playing bridge with friends. She loved cooking for family and friends, and leaves behind a host of traditional family recipes. Her family and friends often turned to her when they faced challenges because she was a wonderful listener that offered sage advice.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard, of 56 years; her loving sons, Brian of Washington, DC, and Gregory (Jessica) of Marietta, GA; grandsons, Zachary and Andrew, both of Marietta, GA; and brother. James (Janet) of Sherman Oaks, CA. She was predeceased by her parents.
