

It is in sorrow for our earthly loss and in celebration of eternity that we announce the passing of Phyllis J. Claypoole who died on January 29, 2025. Born in rural West Virginia in 1928, Phyllis lived an immeasurably full life surrounded by loving family and treasured friends.
She graduated Morris Harvey College, where she studied to enter a career in education. She was preceded in death by her parents, Audra and Homer Jimison, Sr.; her sister Iris Farrell and her husband Lyle; her brother, H.L. Jimison, Jr. and his wife Phyllis; and by her loving husband LTC (ret) C.R. “Jack” Claypoole.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Diane Creel (Jeri), Cindy Feeley (Chuck) and Jack Claypoole (Sandy). She was a loving “Oma” to her grandchildren Cheri, John, Stefanie and Connor as well as her great grands.
Following a private ceremony at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, a celebration of Phyllis’ life and love for the Lord will be held at the Palmetto Church of Christ, 7000 Nursery Road in Irmo, SC at noon on Wednesday, February 5th. The family will receive friends and celebrate memories over lunch in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
