Rebecca Cowsert Gunter - self-sacrificing, admired, a mother and friend to anyone who knew her. Her love for Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends was evident in every aspect of her life. She loved to sing karaoke, shag dance in North Myrtle Beach, pull for the Gamecocks, go for car rides, but above all, she treasured time with her family and friends. Beckbeck went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 6, 2026 with her family surrounding her. She was preceded in death by Lanny Ray Gunter Sr., her father, Robert “Bob” Weldon Cowsert Sr., mother, Zelda Gleaton Cowsert, brother, Robert “Bobby” W. Cowsert Jr., and brother-in-law, James “Jimmie” A. Harrison II.
Becky was born on March 25, 1948 in Greenville, South Carolina to Bob and Zelda Cowsert. She was a leader in her family and respected by everyone that knew her. Beckbeck was quick to advise prayer, offer her undivided attention, and love unconditionally. She was truly the best of friends to all: young and old, rich and poor, strong and weak. Rebecca Cowsert Gunter genuinely made the world a better place.
Becky is survived by her two children: Lanny Ray Gunter II and Nicole Gunter Kokolis (Michael Howell); grandchildren: Gresham Gunter, Julia Kokolis, Emmalee Gunter, Gracie Kokolis, Weldon Gunter, and Cole Kokolis; brother: Clark Cowsert (Jayne); sisters: Emily Harrison and Ann Martin (Henry), sister-in-laws: Lucy Barfield and Frankie Cowsert, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
