

Rex Larkin Casterline of Irmo entered the church triumphant on Monday, August 15, 2022, after a brief, sudden illness. Rex was born in Prince George’s County, Maryland, on October 14, 1964, and grew up outside of Washington, DC. He was the son of Dorothy Casterline and the late James L. Casterline Jr.
Rex was widely known in the legal and real estate circles in South Carolina. Through his many activities and involvements, he touched countless lives and left footprints beside many friends, colleagues, and business associates. Rex was very kind and generous toward others and tried to make a difference with everyone he met.
Rex graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1985 and later from the University of South Carolina Law School in 1994. He was also a youth leader with his wife, Renae, at Centennial ARP Church. Rex went on to have a distinguished legal career primarily in real estate. He was a partner in Harvey, Casterline and Vallini, then worked for Rogers Townsend and Thomas. In December 2014, he co-founded a new firm, Blair Cato Pickren Casterline LLC, which thrives today with offices in Columbia, Lexington, Mauldin, Spartanburg, and Camden.
Rex was very active in his church home, Centennial ARP Church in downtown Columbia, where he was the Clerk of Session. He served on numerous denomination committees and boards. He was also active in Erskine College and Bonclarken Conference Center.
Rex is survived by his wife of 27 years, Renae Casterline; two daughters, Kay Casterline and Karis Ziesing (Zack); his mother, Dorothy Casterline; sister-in-law, Mary T Casterline-Heron (Mike); a niece, Anna Casterline (Elena); brother-in-law, Roy Ingle; and nephews, Josiah, Haddon, and Levi. He was also exceptionally blessed with many goddaughters. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Jonathan Casterline.
A celebration worship service to honor and glorify God will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel St., Columbia, SC.
