Born in Atlanta, G.A. to the late Richard and Frances Beatty. Mike attended the University of Georgia, and was an avid fan of both the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves, rarely missing a televised game. Woe be unto the unsuspecting Mets fans who tried to watch a game with him!
Mike loved vintage cars, with his pride and joys being a lovingly restored 1956 Thunderbird, as well as a 1935 Packard.
For most of his career, Mike worked for Mine Safety Appliance (MSA), selling personal protection equipment to nuclear power plants and fire stations around the southeast.
Mike was married 37 years to the love of his life, Ann Minogue Beatty, who cared for him throughout his lengthy illness, and who Mike often credited with “saving his life.”
In addition to his parents, Mike is predeceased by a daughter, Sherri Mills Beatty; and a son, Michael Patrick Beatty.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; sisters, Kathryn Carr (John), and Patricia Bell of Atlanta, G.A.; daughter, Holly Beatty Gallagher (Justin), Atlanta, G.A.; stepdaughter, Monica Wyche (Dean), New York City, N.Y.; grandchildren, Patrick, Keegan, Zoe, Elrod; and many other relatives.
A Memorial Service for Richard Mills “Mike” Beatty, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service.
