Robert Gregg McPherson

A memorial service for Robert McPherson will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Irmo, 7068 Nursery Rd, Columbia, SC 29212, which will be officiated by the Reverend Blair Smith. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service, at 1:00 p.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the family plot in Kershaw City Cemetery, Edwards Ave, Kershaw, SC 29067.

He was a faithful participant in The First Baptist Church of Irmo, SC and particularly enjoyed active fellowship with the Men’s Ministry. He attended Gordon Military Academy and graduated from Kershaw High School. He attended Columbia Commercial College and began his long-term career in the grocery industry with A&P, Kroger, and Food Lion.

His passion for life was evident in his mastery of gardening and cooking, his love of sports (especially the Clemson Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and the Washington Redskins) and music, of which he amassed a huge collection over his lifetime.

Besides his family, he dearly loved his dogs who were very lucky to have been in his devoted care.

He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife, Janice Burdette McPherson, with whom he resided for many years in Irmo, SC.

He is survived by his sister, Valerie McPherson Privette of Florida; sister in-law, Jeanette Kicklighter of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and nephew, Freddy Kicklighter of Lexington, SC.
