Born on September 27, 1944, in Garland, NC, Sandra was the daughter of John Haywood and Elzora West Evans. She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Calvin Hyder; five sisters and two brothers.
A longtime devoted member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Sandra loved her church family, especially the SOS class, and lived out her faith through her generosity and sweet spirit. She served in the church through the ministries of Baptist Women, Bridge of Hope, and the Finance Committee. She loved supporting global and local missions and was involved in Gideons Auxiliary.
After graduation, Sandra attended business school where she studied accounting and eventually had a successful career in mortgage banking. After her retirement she fully embraced being a wonderful grandmother and became known for her famous chocolate layer and lemon-pound cakes, which she loved to make for friends and family birthdays and holidays.
She is survived by her devoted husband Jerry Stuckey; her daughter Kim Coble Vaughn (Jonathan) and son Brian Coble (Gretchen); her four grandchildren, JT Vaughn (Annie), Weston Vaughn (fiancé Lauren), Emma Coble and Evan Coble; her brother Mike Evans; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026, Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo SC, with visitation following. Private burial will be in Hendersonville, NC.
