

Susan Anne Veld, beloved mother, wife, and cherished member of the Columbia community, passed away peacefully on September 14th, 2026, at the age of 80. Born to James Brick and Florence Flad Brick, who both preceded her in passing, Susan lived a life marked by love, simplicity, and devotion.
She shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, William Paul "Bill" Veld, the love of her life. Together, they raised two sons, Erik Joseph Veld, who predeceased her, and William Andrew "Andy" Veld (Chrystal Veld) who survives her along with her only surviving grandson, William “Xander” Veld.
Susan had a deep love for her animals and was a passionate supporter of Palmetto Lifeline and Collie Rescue. She was known for her incredible cooking and family dinners, always loving to entertain those around her. Her generous spirit was evident in her willingness to help anyone in need, touching the lives of many.
A devoted Catholic, Susan found joy in simple pleasures like watching television, reading, and especially her passion for selling jewelry. She treasured the moments when couples came to select engagement rings, sharing in their happiness and new beginnings.
A service to honor Susan's life will be held at Pineview Baptist Church, located at 111 Pineview Church Rd, Blythewood, SC 29016, on October 3rd. The service will begin at 11 am, followed by visitation at the Fellowship Hall, at 11:30 am.
Susan’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
