Born on June 5, 1949, in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late Drexel Daniel Pound and Juanita Busbee Pound. Tessa graduated from Airport High School in 1967 and attended the University of South Carolina. She retired as an HR Administrator with Correct Care and was an active and faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church in White Rock.
Tessa is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, George Bitterwolf. Tessa and George shared a love of dancing that brought them together 25 years ago, and from that moment, they were inseparable. The two traveled across the country attending dance conventions, always making friends, and leaving lasting impressions with their joy and grace on the dance floor.
She is also survived by her beloved daughter, Casey (Jason) Sternenberg, and her three treasured grandchildren: Ezelle, Finley, and Max. Tessa was a deeply involved and loving grandmother, a constant and caring presence in their lives. She took pride in being first in the school pickup line—sometimes at three different schools—and was always ready to help with homework, prepare snacks, or chauffeur her grandchildren to their many activities.
In addition, she is survived by her sister, Patricia Pound Yenny, her brother, George (Jeannie) Aylsworth, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Webster and Finley Pound.
Tessa’s gentle spirit, kind heart, and bright sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Bethel Lutheran Church, with visitation following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 2081 Dutch Fork Road, White Rock, SC.
