Born in Macon, Mississippi, Thomas was the son of the late Charles Thomas Chambers and Olga Mae Chambers. He dedicated more than 40 years of his career to hospital finance, serving faithfully at Baptist Medical Center and Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. His work was marked by diligence, integrity, and a deep commitment to supporting the care of others.
Thomas was married to Mary Chambers, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Together they raised a son, John Chambers, and Tom was also the proud father of a daughter from a previous marriage, Joy Ames. He enjoyed hunting and time spent with his family, whom he loved deeply.
He is survived by his children, John Chambers and Joy Ames, and by his nine beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Mary Chambers and his granddaughter, Evangeline Grace Chambers.
A visitation with the family will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., both at Dunbar Funeral Home in Irmo, South Carolina.
