Tommy attended Eau Claire High School where he was named Mr. Shamrock 1967 and graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1969. Following high school he enlisted in the Army and spent six years in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He attended Palmer Business School in Columbia and was the Owner of Tommy Storey Auto Sales. Tommy was a legend in the automobile industry and was named The Southeastern Salesman of the Year for 5 years consecutively. Tommy never met a stranger and was one of the funniest men you would ever meet. He will remembered for his sense of humor and always being a jokester. Tommy was a top contributor to the South Carolina State Educational Lottery System and never met a lottery ticket he wouldn't scratch. He was a simple man who enjoyed a gas station hot dog and going to spread pine straw he raked up on the way home. Tommy kept a manicured lawn and an overly chlorinated swimming pool. Over the years he enjoyed many trips to Charleston, Cherokee and Biloxi with his family. He was the proud parent of six children and grandfather to seven grandchildren. Tommy Storey will forever be remembered for his strength and having the biggest heart.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Caroline Forrest Storey; his children, Amie Boyd (Ronnie), Jayme Storey, Blake Storey (Jennifer), Chandler Herrington (Lane), Mary-Katharine Storey, and Emma Storey; his grandchildren, Ryann Davenport, Lyndi Davenport, Hunter Clark, Rylee Storey, Ashlyn Storey, Reagan Storey, and Hampton Herrington;his sister, Mary Burnett; and a brother-in-law, Ansel Forrest Jr.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Jennifer May and Beth Powers.
A funeral service for Tommy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, with a private burial will be held at later date. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
