

William Dwight Bouknight,90, was born May 11, 1934 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Joe A. Bouknight and Della E Bouknight. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2024, while surrounded by love ones.
Dwight served in the South Carolina Air National Guard from October 1952 until October 1990. He retired as a CMSGT. He was employed as an air technician and as an air auditor for the USPFO for South Carolina Stock Records as a Supervisor, and NCOIC Management and Procedures Branch. He served on active duty in Spain during the Berlin crisis. After retirement from the Air National Guard, he was employed by the Palmetto Hardware and Wholesale Company for five years. His last employment was with the South Carolina Budget and Control Board Telecommunications department for nine years.
Dwight was an active member of New Heights Church. He taught Sunday school for 38 years and served as a deacon as well as church treasurer.
Dwight was married to the love of his life, Linda Raley Bouknight, for 65 years. Together they had two wonderful daughters: Melissa Miller(Joe) and Denise Swearingen(Jay) five grand children: Samuel Miller(Mindy) of Travelers Rest; Lydia Miller of Charleston; Jesse Swearingen(Katherine) of Columbia; John Scott Swearingen of Charleston; Avery Swearingen of Columbia. They have one great granddaughter, Ellie Grace Miller. Dwight is survived by brother Herman Bouknight of Columbia. He is also survived by many beloved, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Clyde, Bouknight, Erby Bouknight, Vernita Sipes, Lindy Bouknight, Carol Bouknight, and Eleanor Talbert.
Dwight loved working in his yard, feeding the birds, and taking care of his three girls: Linda, Missy, and Denise. He was always dependable, protective, and gentle. He will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, at 2 PM at New Heights church, 5501 Broad River Rd., Columbia SC. Visitation is at 1 PM prior the funeral service. Internment will follow the service at Wood Ridge Memorial Park, Lexington SC.
