William Thomas "Tom" McBroom, II

On April 3, 2024 Tom McBroom of Chapin, SC went home to be with the Lord. Tom was born March 24, 1941 in Miami, FL, to Tom and Ethel McBroom. He graduated from Miami High in 1959, and went on to study Business at Florida State University. While at FSU, he met Catherine Byrd, of Hartsville, SC.

After graduation, they married and moved to Miami, FL where Tom flew as an airline pilot for National Airlines and Pan American World Airways. Tom flew for National and Pan Am for 27 years before retiring and moving to Chapin, SC.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting sporting clays. Tom was also involved as an usher at First Baptist Church of Columbia.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine, his daughter Beatrice (Bebe) Lane, his son, Tom (Shannon), Granddaughter, Meredith McBroom Dick (Alex), and great-granddaughter Lilibet Dick.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Columbia, Boyce Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville, SC.
