Anthony Maurice Glaspie

September 11, 1964August 7, 2018

Anthony “Tony” Maurice Glaspie was born in Jackson, Michigan, on September 11, 1964, to John Dee Glaspie, Sr., and Enis Felicia Glaspie, at Foote Hospital. As the youngest boy, followed by only one sister, Tony was the first of 13 children born after the family moved to Summit Street, making him the “Official East-Sider” of the Glaspie Clan.

As children, the Glaspie's attended The Church of God, Pastored by the late Pastor Frank Hampton, Sr., where he was baptized. He attended school in the Jackson County Public School system, graduating from Jackson High School in 1984 (thanks to the assistance from his “sister-niece” Felicia Frenchwood).

As Tony began his personal pursuit of happiness, he moved to Seattle, Washington, in the mid 1980’s to live with his oldest brother, Paul Johnson, for a while. He later moved to San Diego, California, where he attended a trade school to become an Underwater Welder, but soon discovered that his health would not allow him to continue this pursuit. So, Tony returned to his home in Jackson, Michigan. Tony also lived in Minnesota, and Atlanta, but once again, returned to his home in Jackson, Michigan.

On August 7, 2018, the very same day his first born, Jill Glaspie passed away, the Lord summoned Tony to his eternal home in glory. He is preceded in death by both parents, John Dee and Enis Felicia Glaspie, his oldest sister, Tammy Frenchwood-Kirkland; and his daughter, Jill. He leaves to mourn his death, his children: Leslie Glaspie, Shimone Hayward (Allen), Brittani Bicy, Briana Bicy, Brook Bicy, Anthony Jr. (Hakeem); 5 grandchildren; his siblings: Rosetta Smith (Edward), Paul Johnson (Denise), Kay Bennett, Jackie Glaspie, Sandra Conner, Diane Barker (Terry), Sharon Williams (Bennie), John Dee, Jr., Gina Huguley (Pinkard), Judy Williams (George), Laurie Howell (Michael); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.

So sorry for the Glaspie family loss. I met Tony in the last few years, he was a client of mine and I looked forward to seeing him when he would come in. He was very soft spoken and funny and I enjoyed our conversations. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding.
