Anthony "Tony" Michael Smith

Of Jackson MI passed away on March 7, 2023 at the age of 76. Anthony was born in Jackson, MI on August 13, 1946 to parents Leroy and Sophie (Samulak) Smith. Anthony served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Harness Racers Association for 50 years, and enjoyed casinos, lottery tickets and polkas. Anthony is survived by his sisters Barbara (John) Soltis, Darlene Sprague, and Hattie (Jim) Murphy; in-laws Roger St. Martin and Pat Smith; and 29 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings Sophie (John) Rietnauer, Katie St. Martin, Albert (Marlene) Smith, Johnny (Nancy) Smith, and Frank Smith; brother-in-law Tom Sprague; and three nieces. He will be missed by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church (120 East Wesley Street Jackson MI 49201) family will receive friends on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Ave., Jackson 49202). Tony will receive Military Honors at Woodland Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in Tony’s honor.
