Barbara Ann (Liddell) LeVeque, passed away peacefully at her home in Jackson, Michigan, on August 16, 2022. She was born September 10, 1933, in Highland Park, Michigan to William and Pauline Liddell. She was the oldest of 7 children and thus began the life she was meant to have first as a daughter, then a sister and on to be a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved and cherished her siblings and they in return loved and respected her, sometimes as a sister and sometimes as a surrogate mom. From a young age and onto becoming a young adult she helped her own mother raise all her siblings and learned the skills of caring, nurturing, helping and hard work. But most importantly she learned that family was everything and should be cherished. There wasn’t any school in the country that could have taught her those skills, and yet, these are the skills that built and fulfilled her life. I hope each of her siblings knows, how much she loved them: She was preceded in death by her brother’s Billy, Benny, and Michael and her sister Mary. She is survived by her brother Paul, her sister and best friend Susie (Greg) Sands; dear sister-in-law Cathy Liddell; and her brother-in-law (whom she loved like a brother) Paul (Skip) (Gail Cadwallader) LeVeque. She loved each of them and all of her nieces and nephews as well.
She met Robert (Bob) Charles Polinsky LeVeque in the 8th grade and he became the man that she would love for her entire life. They eloped May 21, 1955 in Angola, Indiana and then married in the Catholic Church November 4, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. They raised 6 children together. These 6 people would become her pride and all her joy. Michael (Rhonda Marion) preceded her in death in 2019; Donna (George) Gettel; Robert (Bobby) preceded her in death in 2020; Pamela (Sam) Cottingham; Lori (Ken) Coon and Charlie LeVeque. My hope is for all children to be as fortunate as we all were to be raised by a woman that gave her whole heart and her whole life to make sure that we knew we were loved and that family was everything. From the six of her kids, she then had her grandchildren: Danielle Crowder; Adriann Freeman; Allison (Kevin) Totten; Melissa Arent, Emily (Brendan) Norton; Bobby III (Watanya) LeVeque; Sarah (Steve) White, Ricky Wosek, Natalie Cottingham (Peter Sight), Joshua Cottingham, Emily (Bryan) Clark; Billy (Carrie-Leigh Sinclair), Sissy Blewster (David Nusloch), Jackie (Thomas) Wooldridge; Madeleine LeVeque, Audrey LeVeque. From those came the great-grandchildren: Winston Blewster, Emma Grace Coon, Ashlyn Wooldridge; Braylon and Avery White, Morgen Cottingham; Alban, Nora, Hazel and Lucille Norton; Piper Strait; Isaac and Emery Freeman; Blake Totten; and Keller, Sullivan and Locklyn Crowder.
It is the end of this life on earth for Barbara Ann LeVeque. However, she left generations blessed with a “treasure”, a very special gift…….she taught all of us what it means to be a family.
Rest in Peace Mom.
